I was a transfer student from SUNY Stony BrookDec 27 2009Sociology
I was a transfer student from SUNY Stony Brook. The school has become increasingly competitive since I was admitted. It seems as if the admissions department is less critical of transfer students. My SAT scores were relatively low and I did not take challenging course work in high school. I received mediocre grades at Stony Brook. Geneseo pushed me to become a better student and person. Prepare to be shocked if you did not try in high school or at another institution. My first semester GPA at Geneseo was a 2.75, and I work my ass off now to get 3.8's.

Admissions criteria are tough, and the school is very competitive. Be prepared for a lot of paperwork, although this is probably true at any college.

I worked my ass off in highschool and deserved to get into Dartmouth!

Instead, I was miserable for a year at Geneseo...

My advice, stay away unless you are able to commute.

To be honest, I didn't really do much to get in.
I put all my effort into other applications and only applied to Geneseo because I figured it'd be the only one I could afford. I have noticed that Geneseo seems to value AP courses on your schedule, even if you do not do so well in them.
